Starting on Monday, February 3rd and ending on Friday, February 14th, our school will be collecting canned goods and dry goods to donate to the local food pantry, Food Gatherers. Our food drive will help hungry families in our community. We are tying our food drive into the Hundredth day celebration at school. We would like all classes to reach a goal of one hundred items. We will keep track of this at the front of the school. Many of the classes will do math and counting activities with the collected food.
Community food drives like ours help make sure those children and their families can get emergency food assistance when they need it.
Please give what you can. One grocery bag of food can provide as many as 11 meals. Every single donation helps, and together we hope our combined donations will make a real difference for those in need. The food pantry is asking for nutritious canned and dry goods. Here are some suggestions:
Fruit canned in its own juices
100% fruit juices
Condiments like ketchup and salad dressing
Multigrain and low-sugar cereals
NO FRESH FOOD
NO GLASS JARS
Donations will be collected each morning in the classroom.
Thank you for your help!
